                Abstract:

            

                The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries work at the Pukapuka Hatchery and the Mahanga Bay Hatchery had two objectives. Firstly to determine a workable system for settling larvae on shell grit and secondly to determine practical methods for the rearing of `eyed' larvae and their transport to another location foe settlement on suitable clutch. Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries will experiment with plastic strip collectors in the Kaipara Harbour
