Discusses the Kaipara Harbour, particularly as a habitat for NZ and migratory birds, some of them endangered. Describes some of the species that feed and breed in the harbour. Considers threats to the birds and their environment and efforts to conserve the area, including the suggestion that it be designated a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention.
