                Abstract:

            

                Dredged mussels from Kaipara have been monitored since December 1982. The aim was to determine the condition cycle of the stock and see if it could be correlated with, and used to predict, mussel spatfalls along the west coast. Results confirm that Kaitaia seed is neither predictable nor reliable
